Micro-Membrane Systems operates specialist equipment for the cleaning and characterisation of commercial 8” spirally wound membrane elements at its membrane testing centre in Bristol. This system is used extensively for the development and testing of new membrane cleaners and membrane cleaning processes. We can also carry out intensive cleaning of single membrane elements for clients and return the membrane elements in preservative solution.

The cleaning skid process has been built to include the following features:
•  Low pressure cleaning pump (5-25 m 3 /hour at 1-2 bar)
•  Dual flow mode (slow rate / high rate)
•  pH and temperature control
•  Deionised water supply make up for cleaning solutions
•  Cleans carried out on single membrane elements
•  Reverse flow mode (slow rate / high rate; only to be carried out at client request)
•  Optional gas sparge (only to be carried out at client request)
•  Return to client in preservative of choice

This rig is available for the following applications:
•  Trial cleaning of single membrane elements
•  Intensive or aggressive cleaning of single membrane elements
•  Contract cleaning of all major brands of 8” membranes
•  Cleaning investigations and studies
•  DWI approval work (e.g. chemical rinsing tests)
•  Developmental testing of new membrane cleaners and processes
